Dead Animals

It's been awhile. I went to the Los Angeles Natural History Museum the other day,
 here's some drawings!
 African Lion

Ferruginous Hawk

Mountain Lion

Greater Kudu

Also here are just some photos from my little excursion.
^ these guys are SO EXCITED ^

A few weeks ago some friends and I also went to the NHM for their annual Bug Show, which was amazing. I held a scorpion. They glow in black light! Whaaat!

Spoon Flies, one of many amazing, exotic bugs that were available to add to one's collection.

And finally, some random drawings from the past month:
I wish there was more to show, but work keeps me in a constant state of exhaustion.
But I'm trying to do more.

Working Away

I've been busy. So much still to do. Here are some little peeks at my new pieces.

(blurry, I know, but I still liked the above photo)

also, I went home to the Bay Area for Thanksgiving and it was gorgeous and sunny and green. Exploring near Olema, an old 1930s bridge all mossy and mysterious:

the end. more to come soon!

Windy Day

So, I was photographing this piece for promotional photos, and the windy day was making pretty things happen, so...I made a little animation. Ta-da!

This is a taste of more complex animations to come, if all goes as planned! Also, wolves:

silk and sculptures

I'm working on some new pieces for a show coming up in Hong Kong,
here's what's on the worktable today:

she needs eyebrows, more hair and a new hand*. sleeves are unfinished as well.
she'll be sitting in a garden with tiny bird friends.

*i have a small problem, as Pocket decided to bite the fingertip off of one of the hands,
because I wasn't paying enough attention to her-
you can see, the far middle finger there is broken...so her hands might end up being a bit different than what's here.. .
at least Pocket didn't eat the Sculpey chip!

also, a side project I am working on- I got some lovely silk scarves, which I have been experimenting with dyeing and painting. its pretty fun, I plan on putting some up for sale soon, once I get it all together!

finally, I went out in the Ballona Creek marsh the other day and took some reference photos with my buddy Alexis Branger. We found the armful of flowers in the dumpster behind a florist, hardly wilted!
